Hello everyone, I dont know if this is the right place to leave some of the sweet poems I have collected over the years, but I will give it a try and maybe you guys can get a smile from some of the papers I have saved. All are written by an anonymous person. If this is not the right place please let me know and I wont post anymore poems okay?
TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR DOGS
(as told by a dog to us, their people)
1. “My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Please don’t yell or scream at me, instead, speak to me with a loving voice and give me time to understand what it is you want of me.
3. God sent me to you for a reason, I am here to protect you in every way, so please place your trust in me and know that I will stand in between you and danger if I need too. It is crucial to my well being to know that you hold me close to your heart.
4. If you must get angry with me, please don’t be angry with me long, and please don’t lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but remember, I only have you, and you my master, and my whole universe.
5. Talk to me, even if I don’t understand your words, I do understand the tone of your voice when you speak to me. It only takes your tone to make me feel loved and safe.
6. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be wrong with me, as I may be sick. Perhaps I’m not getting the right food, or maybe I have been in the sun too long, or I may be just tired from old age and as I age I began to sleep more as any activity may be painful.
7. Remember I have a strong memory, be aware of how you treat me because I will always remember it.
8. Before you raise your hand to hit me, remember, that I could hurt you and yet, I have chosen not to bite you, you are my mom / dad while I am here and to strike at you would be the worst I could do.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You, too, will grow old. Please, please don’t turn me into the shelter because most places don’t have a person for an old dog such as myself. Please know that all I really want is to be with you the rest of my days.
10. When the time comes for me to take my long nap, please handle it with your love and grace. Please don’t leave me with strangers who could care less about me and simply walk out the door while I go to sleep from the professional touch that has been granted to me. Please stay with me, sing to me, love me, speak to me in that beautiful angelic voice that I cherish with all my heart until I cannot stay awake anymore. Please don’t be sad for me, because when that day comes, it will be a joyous occasion for me, I will feel as though I did as I was told by the TRUE master, GOD. I will still be with you in all hours and when you are lonely. I love you, and those years were the best with you. Until we meet again…………
I imagine you hear and read this a lot: Thank you, thank you, thank you
